Learn Dutch
out loud.

Verbie is a Dutch practice app built around the parts that are hardest to drill on your own: prepositions, auxiliaries, separable verbs — and actually saying them. Sixteen quiz types, 3,560 questions graded A1 to C1, natural Dutch voices, and a speaking trainer that records you back.

Inside the app

Built for the bits that never stick

Sneaker Speaker

Listening and speaking, hands free

Sneaker Speaker plays a Dutch sentence, leaves you room to say it back, and records you so you can hear the difference. The whole session runs on audio, so it works while you walk, cook or commute — and every sentence is tagged with its CEFR level and quiz type.

  • Hear it, repeat it, record it, play yourself back
  • Tap Translate the moment a sentence loses you
  • Bookmark anything awkward and it comes back later

Sixteen quiz types

Pick a weak spot, set a clock, go

Prepositional objects, perfect tense, separable verbs, reflexives, modal and position verbs, present and past conjugation, er-usage, number listening and the speaker drills — each one is its own category. Choose how many questions and how long you have, and Verbie builds the round.

  • A daily goal aimed at your current level
  • A review queue that brings back what you missed
  • XP levels and a streak, so it stays a daily habit

The question bank

3,560 questions, graded A1 to C1

Every quiz type is filled out across CEFR levels, so a beginner and someone circling C1 both get material pitched at them. Choose which levels are in play and the whole app follows — quizzes, speaker sessions and daily goals included.

  • Deepest banks: verb translation, separable verbs, adjectives
  • The library keeps growing with every release

Natural Dutch voices

A voice you can actually follow

Two natural Dutch voices — Arjen and Ruth — each at normal speed or 0.75x for when a sentence goes past too quickly. Set it once and every quiz, translation and speaker session uses it.

Normal speed, or 0.75x while it is still new.

Numbers

Prices and phone numbers, at speed

The part that catches everyone out at the checkout. Verbie reads a Dutch number, price or phone number aloud and you type back what you heard, on a keypad built for exactly that — comma, decimal point and all.

Built-in translate

Look it up now, practise it later

A Dutch–English translator sits in its own tab, with history, spoken playback and a one-tap swap of direction. The sentence you looked up on the tram is still there when you want to turn it into practice.

iPad

The same app, with room to breathe

On iPad every category fits on one screen, answers sit where your hands already are, and typed conjugation questions get a full keyboard instead of a thumb-sized one. Nothing is cut down for the bigger screen.

Apple Watch

A companion on your wrist

Start a Sneaker Speaker or Vocabulary Speaker session on your iPhone and the watch picks it up: the same level, the same sentence, and the controls that matter. Headphones in, phone in your pocket.

  • Repeat the sentence, or start and stop a recording, from your wrist
  • Tap the green button for the translation
  • Double-tap the sentence to bookmark it for later
